We’ve been having fundraisers throughout the year to raise cash and awareness for Ladyfest – thanks to everyone who came to them, we really appreciate your support. No more fundraisers now – the next event will be ‘the biggie’. Have you got your tickets yet? You better get ‘em quick…
We used the brand new Star and Shadow Cinema (which was built from scratch by volunteers this year and shows dead cool underground films) and (as predicted) it was a really atmospheric evening of music and swirling visuals.
Erotic Lit was an Ignite event put on especially for Ladyfest. Erotic Lit breaks the silence surrounding sex between women whilst appreciating some great writings from within the lesbian and bisexual women's community. We believe that breaking the silence is especially important in a society that doesn't take sex between women seriously, which makes it more difficult for women who sleep with women to stay sexually and emotionally healthy.

Skribble Records is totally cool - inspired by the mighty Kill Rock Stars label, its passions are riot grrl, indie, rock, electro and experimental. Skribble loves female fronted or all grrl bands, but its not gender exclusive and just likes to release music that may be considered a little bit different from the norm.
In early August Skribble very kindly put on a fundraiser for Ladyfest Newcastle in Leicester, and raised lots of lovely dosh for us. We love them!

The wonderful people at Ignite organised a party on the Prince Bishop River Cruiser in Durham for lesbian and bisexual women and their friends. It was a LOT of fun with lots of drinking, dancing and cool tunes, and we raised several hundreds squid!
Rock n Doris very kindly made the 10th March Doris in the Lounge a benefit for Ladyfest and a celebration of International women’s day. It was a great night with Lake Me playing, and we raised £60!
Our first Ladyfest Newcastle fundraiser featuring Lake Me, World is Static, Saugal Massie and an acoustic set from Jo of The Ladies Mercury took place at The Head of Steam on Wednesday 8th February 2006.
